Kotah's first baseball game was back on May 4th
The following pictures are from different games throughout the season (I haven't taken pictures at every game so I am just putting them all here)
He was a little nervous to pitch off the mound the first time, but we were there early enough for him to get in quite a bit of warming up before he actually pitched in the game.
As nervous as he seemed to pitch the first time, I think hitting off an "actual pitcher" was harder than he was anticipating. Lucky for him he was able to walk around a few times.
The next few games went much smoother and the boys all seemed more comfortable on the field and at bat. They are having a lot of fun with each other. I have been rather shocked, however, by the type of language some of these young men use with each other. Kotah just sits by himself on the bench in the dugout and doesn't interact much with those boys, NOT because we told him, but because he himself feels uncomfortable around them when they are talking like that.
BELOW: Kotah had been unsure about his batting so last week my dad took him (and Kenai) to the batting cages on Tuesday. He then wanted to go again with me on Wednesday before his game that night. Let's just say it paid off with the first pitch of the game... Kotah HIT A HOME RUN.
He was one of 2 pitchers for that game. After the first 2 innings his coach typically will switch them out for another one so they all get the chance to try it... the score at this point is 16-2 (we were winning)
It is fun to see our son growing in so many ways thanks to his athletic involvements. He doesn't let the other kids bring him down, he just does his thing and they tend to follow after him. I hope he realizes that he is being a good example to all those who associate with him and he will continue to follow his own path, leading them as he is.
At this point in the season there are 4 more games and the team is 4-2. Just two more weeks and our fun summer nights at the park will not involve a baseball diamond.
