Memorial Day Weekend-Day 1

Friday, May 22nd
This was the last day of school for the boys.  They didn't have much they were going to be doing, but they insisted that they needed to go and see their friends "one more time" before the summer break.
(above/below taken on the 2nd to last day of school)
 ...ACTUAL last day of school...
Kenai and Sra. Loya-Baca
Kenai and Mrs. Meyer
Kotah with Mrs. Dow
Kotah with Sra. Buval
After/during the boys' lunch we checked them out and headed out of town for the weekend.
We were FINALLY going to see Moab.
If you'll notice in many of these pictures there were dark clouds moving in from all directions.
We got there in plenty of time (by 5:00) to get a campsite, or so we thought... there WERE plenty of empty sites, however, neighboring campers had their water jug, or a chair saving the site for their friends/family that were still coming down THE NEXT DAY!!! We were pretty upset with them, but instead of letting it destroy our weekend, we just kept looking... for 2 1/2 hours it was the same thing from different campers.
After resting, eating and walking the dogs (who traveled exceptionally well) we loaded back in the Jeep at 8:30 and decided that this was NOT the weekend we were finally going to see Moab.  We headed out of town and back toward home (we thought we'd make it by 1)...
Instead.... remember all those dark clouds .....we were lucky to make it back across I-70 to Salina where there were a few rooms available at 1 of the 3 motels there.  We got THERE just before 1... we were driving through white out conditions, some of the time we were barely going 10 mph ON THE FREEWAY and it was darker than dark in the middle of nowhere.  We checked for rooms at 2 different hotels before the third one said they DID have a room. The kids all slept in the King sized bed with the dogs and Jer and I sorta slept on the floor.  It wasn't the worst it could have been but it wasn't what we had hoped the day would end like.
