Family Trip- Day 5 (THE FINAL DAY)

Monday (LABOR DAY) September 4, 2011

We were leaving Casper, Wyoming and heading home via Rock Springs (again). Since it was on the way we decided to go ahead and stop at Independence Rock, besides it gave the boys (ALL THE BOYS) a chance to get out and run around one last time before the final journey home....don't you love how a boy can find a stick and suddenly it is the MOST PRIZED item of the vacation??? haha Ya, that is how Kenai is.When you get out to the rock (which is maybe 100 yards from where you park) you are then able to A. Climb around on the rock, and even clear up the face to the top... or... B. Follow the dirt path that leads you all the way around the rock. We opted for "B".While following the path Jer and Kenai spotted a bunny and decided to CHASE IT ALL OVER... haha Poor Little BunnyThe back side of the rock isn't so vertical so you are able to walk on it easier, that is IF you desire to walk on the rock at all. Here is Kotah trying to keep up with my dad (while the other boys are chasing the Bunny)Kenai saw them climbing.... THEREFORE... He too must climb(the bunny that got away)Around on the back/far side of the rock there are names and dates carved into it. When people passed the rock, when they died. There are some that were obviously NOT AUTHENTIC, but there are also plenty that ARE.Everyone making our way back around to the cars.I took this picture of Kaiya and myself to show we were indeed there. After Independence Rock we stopped in at Martin's Cove for a short time. Pretty much everyone was ready to just Head-For-HOME so we did.A picture of some of the cabins at Martin's Cove...Devil's Gate

After leaving here we headed on to Rock Springs. We stopped at the same place we did on Thursday (and we FINALLY were able to return Gnomeo & Juliet) We all filled up and were on our way home. Besides an hour setback just outside of Evanston we had no problems and returned home safe and sound... ready to sleep in our wonderful Home and our wonderful BEDS.
