Friday, September 2nd... Day 2 of our trip. We got woke this morning in North Platte, Nebraska. We had slept pretty good since we were tired from the long drive the day before. We got up and ordered our breakfast only to later realize we had to GO EAT IT IN THE CAFE (no time for that) so we were packed and out the door... stopping at Burger King to get breakfast (and see if they had a REDBOX... NOPE: this will be day 2 with Gnomeo and Juliet)
There was also this awesomly, huge Trading Post right next door to the hotel. It was NOT open yet, and really we had much more important things to accomplish this day. This day would be the most rewarding day of the trip.
Left the trading post and we were on our way. We drove North through Nebraska up to South Dakota, only about 3 hours of driving this day... to get to our destination anyway. That morning when we filled up at the gas station there were CRICKETS everywhere. It was pretty crazy to see so many of them on the ground, crawling up everything and I couldn't figure out where they had come from cuz they were not around the night before.
Here are just a few of the prettier pictures of Nebraska as we traveled North toward South Dakota.

Border Crossing #3... Nebraska--->South Dakota
When we arrived on the reservation, and more specifically at the office of Enrollment JEREMIAH GOT HIS TRIBAL CARD!!! However, little did we know that would NOT be the best part of the day/trip... while we were getting the card done my dad walked down the hall and into the President's office area. He asked the ladies in there if they could possibly talk to Jer and see if they knew any of his living relatives living on the reservation... ONE of the older ladies DID INDEED!!! and she called her.....
The portrait above is of the boys, Jeremiah and (left) the "acting Chief"-meaning he is the direct decendant from the last know/recognized Chief of the tribe, and (right) the president of the Tribe... his name is Rodney. BELOW is where the fun/excitement really began.
(above) this is LISA SHOTT- one of Jeremiah's Aunties. She left her work for the day and came to meet Jeremiah. Not only did she come and meet him, but she went WAY above and beyond what any of us expected. She called everyone she could/drove us to all sorts of different locations on the Reservation and Just Plain Made Jeremiah Feel Welcome Into This Part of Who He is. Lisa took us nearby to a Garage where a few of his other relatives work/came to meet him. This is Jer with an Uncle George.
(below... L-->R) Erica- cousin (Lisa's Daughter 24), Lisa Shott- Auntie, ?-I'm sorry, Jer's Back (he is blocking his uncle George) and Leo (George's son)
(below...) Jeremiah with a Cousin LEO---> HE is a HUGE hunter... Jer loved that fact.
We were here over an hour EASILY (probably much closer to 2 hours) I don't know, time was moving kinda slow for me. The boys were troopers though, playing and eating, and watching their movies...
We left there and went to a cemetery where many of the plots were occupied by Jer's ancestors and closer relatives. This on in particular was an Uncle who died in a car accident.
After the cemetery we drove on over to the local elementary school...
Jeremiah getting to meet 2 of his AUNTIES at the Elementary School where they work. We were also taken on a full tour of the building (lots of hand painted murals on the walls) Jeremiah was ECSTATIC the entire time... so cute!
Picture of the outside of the Elementary. After the school Lisa took us out to the land that she and Jer's (mom) Margarita share
Jeremiah standing in the Land that is supposed to be his inheritance one day.
Jeremiah meeting another relative... an UNCLE. We also went to a small museum of the Reservation that has many native artifacts and other interesting things in it, including pictures of many of Jer's ancestors and the stories behind their roll they played in the tribe's history. Finally at the end of a long, wonderful, surprising day we were able to crash for dinner and resting at the hotel. I took the boys to the "pool" to swim, but it was practically the size of an over sized hot tub... AND... it was pretty dirty so I gave them a nice, long, hot bath instead (with Kaiya) and they went right to sleep.

What a trip! Hope you're recouping from all that driving. ;) I think the same thing happened with us, couldn't find a redbox to save us from "Alpha and Omega" (that cheezy wolf cartoon). Totally feel your pain. ;)
Wow! Sounds exciting! Glad you were able to meet so many relatives! I'm sure Jer was so glad!
