My parents have been providing a home for my sister/brother-in-laws two dogs for the last year and a half. Kotah use to be just fine when he went out back and the dogs were there, but ever since his DOG ATTACK he has been pretty terrified of them. And truthfully I don't blame him. They are both big German Shepard Dogs (I have NEVER LIKED THAT BREED- my neighbor's growing up had them and they killed the other animals all the time)... back to KOTAH. Tonight when we were over there for my running Kenai really really REALLY wanted Kotah to play out back with him, but Neo (the white dog here) was in the yard instead of the pasture so Kotah was NOT about to play back there....
Kenai came in the house and got Kotah, took him by the hand and insisted that he would stay right with him and help him be brave because he would make sure Neo didn't bite Kotah like the other dog did.... Kotah was super super brave and even went most of the way out toward the dogs, but this bottom picture is all the closer he got tonight.
I LOVE that Kenai is starting to understand Kotah and his feelings about certain things. He is starting to see things from other peoples' points of view. Mostly though he is starting to realize he can be the brave, protector to Kotah that Kotah has always been to him. My boys are the light of my life. They continue to amaze me most every day. I just hope they continue to want to be friends. Sometimes its hard when they become so independent, and yet at the same time you are proud that they are able to finally do things without your help. Motherhood is a roller coaster of emotions, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world... or the UnIvErSe... or the GALAXY... or the moon (haha inside joke with the boys)
