Friday- March 27
In order to get the most out of the kids' Spring Break we let the boys miss school today and we headed for Vegas so they could spend the evening/night with Stryder, their cousin.
The one thing about having Syrie and Bryce in Henderson for medical school is that we can always have a "vacation" that includes family. We like being able to get away from home and still feel like we are at home. The kids ALWAYS love to just go sit/play/swim in the pool and hot tub at the apartments.
Saturday- March 28
It is always a little bitter sweet when we leave them, but we had our destination to get to and Syrie was heading back up to my parents with Stryder for the week so we all had to get going semi-early the next morning.
We stopped in BAKER, CA so the kids could see the huge thermometer... it was like 86 degrees when we pulled off the freeway. By the time we had eaten and gotten going again it was up to 92... Made me thankful we weren't staying there (not that I get why anyone would want to be there for anything)
After eating and having a few hours left before getting to San Diego, the kids had some good "nap" time or at least quiet time for the boys... haha I love that she fell asleep like this... so funny.
We couldn't check in until after 3... we got here about 4:30. It is so nice. We reserved one with a kitchenette so the first thing we did after unloading the Jeep was get to the store for some groceries. I'll tell you what, we are (technically it is Sunday night as I write this) only 2 days into this vacation and spending like $100 on groceries is the smartest thing we've done yet... my boys can eat a ton, add to that: playing, running, walking, heat, swimming.... they are going make it so we get back to the store in another day (so glad they can just eat as much as they need to and not worry about what it is costing us)
After filling our tummies, we went for a short drive over to see the USS MIDWAY... we didn't go ON it because when we do that we want to have more time that we would have gotten this night. It is cool to see up close. Jer had 2 grandpas serve in the Navy during WWII so this meant a lot to him.
After our short little walk around the pier here the kids were spent. We got one last picture in of them before it was time to head back to the Lodge for bed time. We LOVE this trip so far and it has only just begun.
So far, so good. Spring Break 2015 you are looking good.
