Legoland is about 30-35 miles north of where we are staying here in San Diego. Since we already spent one day up there yesterday, we planned to leave just slightly earlier so we could stop halfway and see the LDS Temple. As you are driving along the freeway, you come up over a little rise and there is a slight bend when the temple just appears... you can actually drive right past it if you don't know it is coming because the exit is RIGHT AT THE TEMPLE.
The temple is closed on Mondays, but the yard-keepers were working their magic... it was beautiful, but what stood out the most was the smell. The flowers and plants smelled so fresh, like walking through a nursery in the spring... HEAVENLY.
We got a picture of the kids and then Kotah took this picture... we laughed about how it made us think it was like a photo-shopped picture. (tell me that isn't what you think now that I've said it.)
The kids were entertained for a good 15 minutes-ish hunting and holding potato bugs... Kaiya would giggle so loud and scream as "it tickled her hand" and then she'd kind of freak out throwing it to the ground. At one point Kotah said, "It's a zombie bug and it'll bite you and eat you." Needless to say she had this look of shear TERROR on her face as she screamed and dropped the bug that time... then she started saying, "I'm sorry bug, I'm sorry bug," and she picked it back up (below).
Kotah seriously has such pretty hair. He lets me actually dry it (sometimes) and straighten it (pretty much every day)
After finishing up at the temple we finished making our way up to LEGOLAND again. We went on our "favorite" rides again and a few we hadn't gotten to yesterday. We meandered all over in the miniatures. (I don't have any pictures of that, but Jeremiah does so HOPEFULLY I'll get some on here when we get back home.)
After we finished picking out the kids' souvenirs, which took maybe an hour... Kenai wanted everything... we headed back "home" to eat lunch and get our beach stuff. We drove down to Imperial Beach so we could hang out and play all afternoon and into the evening. I could hang out in the warm sun with the cool breeze blowing all day long.
Kotah and Jeremiah spent hours playing in the waves, as they continued to get bigger and bigger.
Before leaving for the night, we walked down to the end of the Pier (pictured below) We wanted to get some pictures out on the end, but there were some super creepy people out there fishing so it wasn't really an ideal place for a picture.
Instead we just hung out on the pier watching the waves continue to grow bigger and bigger and we were lucky enough to watch a bunch of surfers playing with them...

While we were standing up there watching the surfers, we saw two separate waves come in that were HUGE in comparison to the others... with each wave it rocked the pier and spewed water up between the boards, spraying us with water from below... it was indeed pretty cool, but still a little "eek" since we had the kids out there with us.
When we were walking back to the Jeep for the night Kaiya FINALLY found an unbroken seashell "on her own" and couldn't wait to add it to the collection Jeremiah and the boys had found all afternoon... my favorite find was Jeremiah bringing me an unbroken sand dollar.
What a great day. After playing we came back to our room and Jeremiah made spaghetti with alfredo and green beans while I got all the kids showered and cleaned up for bed. It is now just 9 o'clock and we are watching "The Maze Runner" before we do scripture reading and bedtime. I LOVE MY FAMILY BEYOND WORDS! They are what truly matter in life and they are why I do everything that I do. This trip has been the greatest decision Jeremiah and I have made (since we decided to have Kaiya) Families are a blessing from God. They give us purpose, direction, comfort, security and a place where we ALWAYS belong no matter what our shortcomings are.
