Today we took the kids up the Wheeler Creek Trail... we didn't know that is what it is called, we have always started at the "top" (which we did today) and walked as far as the kids wanted, never making it all the way down to the other end.... before today that is.
Today was the FIRST time we've gone for a hike this year and let's just say it was quite apparent that it was the first...
Kaiya was wonderful to ride in her carrier (I carried her the 2 miles in and Jer the 2 miles out)... Kenai was stopping to pick up E-V-E-R-Y stick on the trail... okay maybe not every one, but seriously this kid has to stop sometime (he even has on in his lap in the picture above)... and Kotah got tripped up on a big rock in the middle of the trail maybe 1/2 mile in... he cut his hand (small) and scraped his knee, leaving him not as excited as he had been...
Gunner liked when we'd stop and let him cool off in the stream we follow the entire way, but he too was getting winded by the last mile back... granted the hike in was mostly DOWN hill and the hike out was mostly UP hill... from now on (now that we know where the actual trail head is) we will be doing the UP part first and the DOWN part last.
We did see lizards, butterflies, this cool caterpilar, and there are always pretty views when walking through Mother Nature :) haha... like the deer droppings (says Kenai)
This was a great trail actually. There were others mountain biking or running, but it is wide enough to get out of the way and there is almost always pleanty of distance in front of you to see what is coming. Jeremiah actually would like to try running the trail with me on the bike (maybe that will happen) one day.
