January/February... Kaiya
Since Kaiya opted out of dance/tumbling this year she has gotten to try soccer and now basketball (and soon softball)
It can be enough to drive an athletic, competitive parent crazy, but lucky for Kaiya I have mellowed out a TON since figuring out that she is just her own self and there is NOTHING WRONG with that. She plays so hard. Gets the ball. Dribbles down the court. Shoots and sometimes makes it so I am happy she is having fun. Her coach is a complete idiot and teaches them NOTHING... absolutely NOTHING. So this has been a fun first experience, and I'm pretty sure she's already excited to do it again next year even though we aren't finished with this year.
On January 13th Kaiya turned 7. It is unreal how fast the years roll by. She didn't want anything so naturally we got her some clothes and a few little jewelry things. She is starting to become a cute little girly-ish girl on top of her athletics. She's just the right balance.
January/February... and March Kenai
Kenai started our family into basketball last year. This year he was selected for another team, but thankfully he has friends on pretty much all the teams so it wouldn't have mattered to him which team he was on. His team as only one once this season, and it was against the team that has the most of his friends from school on it, haha. He is playing so much better this year from last year. He can dribble cleaner and use both hands. He is shooting the ball more confidently and making a few (he hasn't missed a foul shot yet... "its easy for me" he said haha) He has such a fun time on the court.
The first week of the season he was awarded the "Sportsmanship Player of the Game"
I went with Kenai on an Ice Skating field trip last Friday, March (haha) 2nd. IT. WAS. COMICAL. All the kids holding the walls and skating around then trying to go it alone from the wall. They tried over and over. Kenai has some bruising and also some fun memories with his friends.
Kenai and Orlando. It's hard to believe these two weren't always friends, but this year they've tried hard to get along better and they realized they actually like each other.
Janurary/February... Kotah
Robotics. This year the robotics club actually went up to Utah State and competed against other schools. Kotah and his friend Kolby (and their teams) were the top 2 from the school so they got to compete... they were against Jr. High teams too. It was a fun experience and both teams finished in the middle of them all. This has been such a fun club for Kotah to be apart of. Next year at the Jr. High there is a class designated to learning this type of stuff and he sighed up for it, hopefully he'll be accepted.
On February 13th the 6th graders had a dance and I got to chaperone.

Kotah decided to try basketball this
year. He is a natural athlete that's for sure. He isn't the best
player, but you wouldn't guess it was his first time ever playing
either. Give him a few years and he'll be playing as well as others
that are already 4 years deep into the sport. He too was awarded the
"Sportsmanship Player of the Game Award" Love my good little sportsmen.
