Dancing has been quite a change of scenery for our family. We are use to having practices and games each and every week, but having 3 LONG nights in a row filled with rehearsals and performances is different. Kaiya has like dancing this year, but it wasn't until she finished her first night at the recital that she was convinced that she HAD to do it another year. I think the fact that she was wearing this adorable costume pretty much sold me on the idea... and the fact that it is during the weeknights and wouldn't interfere with any of the boys' activities for the whole year helped, too.
They originally started with 6 girls but VERY early on there was one that obviously could NOT follow directions and had to be "kicked out" in order for the others to focus and not be completely distracted by her poor behavior.
Kaiya's group performed to Shirley Temple's "Animal Crackers" song for tap dance and the ballet was Snow White's "Someday My Prince Will Come" (it was a newer versions however and NOT the original from the movie). The girls did the best they could. Kaiya was right on que and hit all of her steps... the second night she did have a slip, but popped right back up and got on with the dance where she was suppose to be.
Callie and Rachel are a wonderful team, mothers and daughters do tend to communicate alright. Kaiya loved having them teacher her and they were both so very patient with these little ones that I was very please with them also. Perhaps she will be lucky enough to have them again NEXT YEAR.
...here they are sitting patiently waiting for their turn backstage...
As soon as Kaiya got to the stage the first night it took almost everything I had to keep her under control and not hyper, running all over the auditorium with her "senior helpers" from the older age groups.
I may or may not have taken like 10+ pictures of her holding her box of Animal Crackers with her trophy, but SHE JUST KEPT TELLING ME THEY WEREN'T GOOD ENOUGH haha... this girl is such a joy to have in our lives. Love you so much my tiny dancer.
