The boys were able to ride in the parade with many of the other Lacrosse Players... boys and girls. The high school GIRL'S team walked with a banner telling everyone how they TOOK STATE in only their 3rd year of having the program. This is a program I am so thankful to be a part of... and it doesn't hurt that my boys LOVE this sport!!! Next year can't come soon enough for them, but for now it is nice to play something else.

Another year of FOOTBALL has begun. We are all enjoying our time together at the park during practices. Kotah is playing with the same coach as last year, Coach Paul. This year, however, Kotah is STARTING QUARTERBACK. He LOVES the chance to play a new position. He is so calm and collected under pressure that it doesn't surprise me one bit that he is doing so well learning the new position.
Last week was their first season game VS. Morgan. They lost, 21-0... NOT what we were expecting from this group of boys this year. We had a few good runs, but mostly we weren't getting a lot of chances for anything because Kotah was constantly chasing the snaps.

| Kotah making a leveling tackle on the Layton Quarterback... I know it is Kotah because of his ORANGE sleeves. |
This week the boys played Layton and lost 24-6... Kotah ROCKS at defense and had several sacks/tackles for a loss and he ran down some players to save us from getting scored on more than they did. He had 2 awesome passes to a receiver that didn't get it (went right through his hands and slipped out... bummer) That same receiver was able to take a hand off and run it in later in the game for a great touchdown.
Kotah is #11
Warming up and stretching PRE-GAME
(below) Kotah after the Layton game with a bloody nose... this guy NEVER quits. He is starting quarterback, starting line backer (I think that is the defensive position... the second line of defense behind the actual D-line???), he is the kicker and on the receiving team... he NEVER leaves the field during the game.
...Kaiya does great during practices, but sometimes I give her my phone and this is what happens...
Kaiya with her bestie Gemma (her brother also plays with Kotah's team)
I am so glad she is (mostly) a happy little girl that enjoys spending time at the park playing with friends and constantly making new ones.
Well, that is the sporting side of life for now... Kenai and Kaiya each have fun activities starting on September 9th so at that time we will be able to post about their achievements also.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL 2015
Kenai is starting 2nd grade
Kotah is starting 4th
Each is overly excited about what awaits them this year with all the different changes that will occur from last year. I was worried about their Spanish fluency diminishing over the summer, but as soon as each of them stepped foot into their classes the Spanish just seemed to spew out of their mouths like they had been speaking it all summer long. (thank goodness) Kaiya is LOVING her UPSTART preschool online. She is already almost into the "first grade section" of their profiling. She asks me to do it all on her own. I log in with our password on the computer and she does the rest all on her own. Along with her getting to participate in this program Kenai is also able to work on his reading skills as well. He reads fine, but really is there such a thing as too much reading assistance? No, there isn't so I will give him everything I can to aid in his education.
